Former U.S. President Donald Trump has thrown his weight behind biotech billionaire and former presidential contender Vivek Ramaswamy in Ohio’s 2026 gubernatorial race, hailing him as “young, strong, and smart.”
In a Truth Social post on Saturday, Trump praised Ramaswamy’s intellect and leadership, calling him “something special” and “a true patriot who loves our country.”
“I know Vivek well — competed against him — and he is something special. As your next Governor, Vivek will fight tirelessly to grow the economy, cut taxes, promote Made in the USA, protect our borders, strengthen law and order, and defend the Second Amendment,” Trump wrote, giving what he described as his “Complete and Total Endorsement.”
The endorsement marks a major boost for Ramaswamy, 39, who has quickly become a prominent figure in conservative politics since his 2024 presidential bid. The Cincinnati-born entrepreneur and political newcomer has positioned himself as a champion of free speech, deregulation, and “America First” ideals — themes that closely align with Trump’s own platform.
Earlier this year, Ramaswamy secured the Ohio Republican Party’s official backing after weeks of internal debate and public support from Trump allies, including Donald Trump Jr.
If elected, Ramaswamy would succeed outgoing Governor Mike DeWine, who is term-limited. His campaign has pledged to focus on economic revitalization, education reform, and restoring “faith in American values.”
Ramaswamy has yet to formally respond to Trump’s endorsement, but aides say he plans to campaign aggressively across Ohio in the coming months, leveraging Trump’s support to unite conservatives ahead of the 2026 vote.
