US President Donald Trump sparked fresh controversy at a Pennsylvania rally.
After he lavished personal praise on his White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, complimenting her “beautiful face” and “lips” during a speech that was meant to focus on his economic proposals.
Addressing supporters, the 79-year-old President paused his policy remarks to spotlight the 28-year-old press secretary. “We even brought our superstar today, Karoline. Isn’t she great?” he said, drawing cheers from the crowd.
Trump then shifted to comments about Leavitt’s on-air presence, sa ying she dominated television appearances. “When she gets up there with that beautiful face and those lips that don’t stop—like a little machine gun,” he said, even mimicking sound effects to emphasise his point.
He went on to praise her confidence, linking it to his administration’s policy positions. “She’s got no fear… because we have the right policy,” he said, adding that she had “an easier job” than press secretaries representing opposing political views.
This is not the first time Trump has publicly remarked on her appearance. In an interview in August, he drew similar attention by saying, “It’s that face. It’s that brain. It’s those lips, the way they move.”
Leavitt, who previously served as an assistant press secretary during Trump’s first term, became the youngest White House press secretary in history upon her return to the administration in January. She is married to real estate developer Nicholas Riccio and has a son, Niko.
