Trump’s Hair Colour Sparks Fresh Buzz on X Days After ‘Don’t Wear Wig’ Remark

US President Donald Trump’s hair has once again become a talking point on social media after he arrived in Morristown, New Jersey, on Friday sporting a noticeably darker hairstyle than his usual blond comb-over.

The latest look comes just days after Trump addressed long-running speculation about his hair during a White House dinner, insisting that he does not wear a wig. It also follows an appearance in Las Vegas where his hair appeared unusually full and blond.

During a September 2 dinner in the White House Rose Garden, Trump recalled a windy campaign rally in Ohio in 2024 involving Republican Senate candidate Bernie Moreno. He cited the strong winds as evidence that his hair was real.

Trump has made similar claims in the past. At a 2015 campaign rally, he pulled at his hair while telling supporters it was genuine. Three years later, at the Conservative Political Action Conference, he joked about trying to conceal his bald spot.

The latest change in appearance quickly drew reactions on X, with users comparing Trump’s darker hair to the looks of a 1970s game-show host, actor Robert Redford and former New York mayor Rudy Giuliani.

Some users speculated that the darker shade could simply be the result of limited time for colouring and styling before his New Jersey appearance. Others suggested the new hairstyle was intentional and designed to divert attention from recent online commentary about his appearance.

The social media reactions, however, do not establish that Trump wears a wig.

Trump biographer Michael Wolff has previously claimed that the president travels with a collection of hair pieces in different shades and has an aide who helps maintain them while on the road. Wolff has also said that Trump handles much of the styling himself.

In an earlier account of the Trump White House, Wolff recalled Ivanka Trump describing how she would tease, pull and fluff her father’s hair to get it into shape.

Trump’s hair has also featured in comments from his former physician, Harold Bornstein, who told The New York Times in 2017 that Trump used a medication commonly prescribed to treat male-pattern hair loss.

The subject resurfaced again in August when comedian Rosie O’Donnell joked about Trump’s hair, telling him it was “time to hang up your wig” in a reference involving White House aide Natalie Harp.

For now, Trump’s latest darker hairstyle has provided social media with another round of speculation—but no evidence that confirms the long-running wig claims.
