Umar Akmal Pays Emotional Tribute to Nana Patekar: ‘His Impact Will Echo Through Generations’

The passing of a celebrated actor can leave a lasting void for audiences who have admired his work for decades. Veteran Bollywood actor Nana Patekar reportedly passed away at the age of 75 on Thursday, prompting an outpouring of tributes from fans, well-wishers and members of the entertainment industry.

Among those remembering the actor was Pakistan cricketer Umar Akmal, who took to social media to express his grief. Sharing a photograph of Patekar, Umar posted an emotional tribute highlighting the actor’s enduring influence.

“His work is done but his impact will echo through the generations. Sir you will be missed,” he wrote, accompanying the message with crying and broken-heart emojis.

The message reflected the admiration and affection that Patekar’s work inspired among audiences beyond the Indian film industry.

Nana Patekar’s Reported Final Moments

According to reports, Patekar was at his residence in Goa when he suffered a cardiac arrest. He was reportedly found unconscious and rushed to Manipal Hospital, where doctors attempted to revive him.

Medical personnel are said to have performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) for approximately 45 minutes. Despite their efforts, he could not be revived and was reportedly declared dead at around 5:20 am.

Last Rites Held in the Presence of Family and Dignitaries

Reports stated that Patekar’s mortal remains were brought to Pune on Thursday evening before being taken to his farmhouse in Donje, near Khadakwasla, for the final rites.

His last rites were reportedly conducted at the farmhouse, where he was laid to rest with full state honours. Family members gathered to bid farewell to the veteran actor, while several prominent personalities also paid their respects.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and actor Jackie Shroff were among those reported to have attended the farewell.

Nana Patekar’s Recent Film and OTT Projects

Patekar continued to remain active in films and digital entertainment in the later stages of his career. His recent projects included Housefull 5 (2025) and Vanvaas (2024).

He was also reported to have appeared in Vishal Bhardwaj’s romantic action thriller O’ Romeo, which released in February 2026 and starred Shahid Kapoor and Triptii Dimri. Patekar played Ismail Khan, the Mumbai Intelligence Bureau chief, in the film.

Another recent project was Anil Kapoor’s Subedaar, which premiered on Prime Video in March 2026. In 2026, he also made his OTT debut with Prakash Jha’s political drama series Sankalp, portraying Ma’at Sahab, also known as Kanhaiya Lal.

Known for his powerful screen presence and memorable performances, Patekar built a career spanning several decades across Hindi and Marathi cinema. Umar Akmal’s tribute adds to the reported messages of remembrance celebrating the actor’s work and the lasting impression he left on audiences.
