From Pageant Ramp to Silver Screen: Vartika Singh Set to Debut in Bollywood with Haq.
Former Miss Universe India and supermodel Vartika Singh is all set to make her Bollywood debut in the highly anticipated courtroom drama Haq, produced by Junglee Pictures in association with Insomnia Films and Baweja Studios. She will share screen space with Emraan Hashmi and Yami Gautam, with the film scheduled to hit theatres on 7 November 2025. The story is adapted from Jigna Vora’s book, Bano: Bharat ki Beti.
Directed by Suparn Varma, Haq features Emraan Hashmi as a determined lawyer and Yami Gautam in a pivotal role. Vartika Singh will portray a layered, emotionally charged character, whose unpredictable journey forms a crucial part of the narrative.
To prepare for her role, Vartika underwent rigorous training, including dialect coaching and improvisation workshops, allowing her to delve deeply into her character’s silences, subtleties, and emotional nuances. Reports suggest her addition brings a fresh dynamic to the ensemble cast.
About the Film
Haq is inspired by the landmark Supreme Court case Mohd. Ahmed Khan vs. Shah Bano Begum. It follows the story of a young woman who challenges societal norms by taking her husband to court after he abandons her and their children, sparking a nationwide conversation on faith, women’s rights, and justice.
The official teaser, released last month by Junglee Pictures, introduces viewers to Shazia Bano, whose fight for justice forms the emotional core of the film. The production highlighted:
“Haq is the story of one woman’s fight for her rights and justice, inspired by a landmark judgement that changed the course of women’s rights in India.”
