A video purportedly featuring Kagiso Rabada has gone viral on social media, with the Gujarat Titans pacer allegedly seen smoking what appears to be a cigarette at an unverified location.
The clip has sparked widespread online chatter, with fans debating the visuals and raising questions, even as its authenticity remains unconfirmed.
It is important to note that IndiaToday.in has not independently verified the video. While Rabada appears in the footage, a few other individuals—believed to be linked to the Gujarat Titans setup—can also be seen. However, their identities and the context, timing, and location of the clip remain unclear, adding to the uncertainty.
Rabada, one of South Africa’s premier fast bowlers, has been a key performer for Gujarat Titans this season in the Indian Premier League. He currently sits seventh in the Purple Cap standings, having taken 10 wickets from six matches. The right-arm quick has averaged 22.20, with an economy rate of 9.73, reflecting his impact despite a few expensive spells.
The resurfacing of the clip has also brought renewed attention to Rabada’s past disciplinary record. During the previous IPL season, he served a one-month ban imposed by the South African Institute for Drug-Free Sport. He had exited the tournament midway to serve the suspension before returning to rejoin the squad, although specific details of the offence were not made public.
At present, Gujarat Titans are placed sixth on the IPL points table with three wins and remain in contention for a playoff spot. They are set to face Royal Challengers Bengaluru on April 24 at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in a crucial fixture as they look to build momentum.
Earlier this season, a similar situation arose when a viral clip allegedly showed Yuzvendra Chahal smoking while driving. That video, too, remained unverified but triggered significant backlash online.
For now, the Rabada video remains unconfirmed, even as it continues to circulate widely without any official clarification from the player or the franchise.
