Yash’s Toxic Eyes ₹130 Crore Opening, Could Outpace Animal and Dhurandhar but Fall Short of KGF 2

Yash has made his much-awaited return to the big screen with Geetu Mohandas’ action drama Toxic. Released across India in five languages, the film has generated significant buzz, with strong advance bookings indicating a potentially massive opening.

Toxic advance booking

Advance bookings for Toxic began around 6 AM on August 21, while major national cinema chains opened bookings a few hours later. The film quickly attracted audiences across ticketing platforms.

By Wednesday morning, after five days of advance sales, Toxic had sold more than 15 lakh tickets and collected nearly ₹50 crore in advance bookings for its opening day.

The Kannada version initially led ticket sales, but the Hindi release eventually emerged as a major contributor. The Hindi version reportedly collected around ₹25 crore through advance bookings, exceeding industry expectations, while the Kannada version earned approximately ₹18 crore. However, Kannada shows recorded higher occupancy.

The strong response to the Hindi version reflects Yash’s growing popularity in North India following the success of the KGF franchise.

Toxic box office prediction

Toxic is expected to record a strong pan-India opening. Trade estimates suggest the film could collect around ₹85-90 crore net in India on its first day across all languages.

The Hindi version is expected to contribute approximately ₹35-40 crore, with the Kannada version also making a significant contribution. Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam versions could collectively add another ₹12-15 crore.

If the film receives strong word of mouth, its domestic opening could move closer to the ₹100-crore mark, although crossing that figure is considered difficult.

The overseas market will also play an important role, particularly in North America and the Middle East. With the film targeting an overseas opening of around $2.5 million, its worldwide day-one collection could reach approximately ₹120-130 crore.

If the higher estimates materialise, Toxic could rank among the biggest opening days for an Indian film, potentially surpassing titles such as Animal, Adipurush and Jawan. However, it is still expected to remain below Yash’s career-best opening of ₹164 crore, recorded by KGF Chapter 2.

The film could also register the second-biggest opening for an Indian release this year, ahead of Peddi, which opened at around ₹117 crore, but behind Dhurandhar 2, which reportedly debuted with ₹205 crore.

The film, which released in theatres on August 26, has also attracted attention for its intimate sequences and controversial portrayal of women. The Central Board of Film Certification cleared the film with an A certificate without cuts.
