Cricketers Yuvraj Singh, Robin Uthappa, Actor Sonu Sood Summoned in Betting Apps Probe.

Cricketers Robin Uthappa and Yuvraj Singh, along with actor Sonu Sood, have been summoned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) next week in connection with the probe into illegal betting apps and alleged money laundering linked to the 1xBet platform. Uthappa is scheduled to appear on Monday, Yuvraj on Tuesday, and Sood on Wednesday.

They join a growing list of celebrities under scrutiny, including former cricketers Shikhar Dhawan, Suresh Raina, and Harbhajan Singh, as well as actor Urvashi Rautela and Trinamool Congress MP Mimi Chakraborty. The agency has been examining whether these celebrities knowingly promoted platforms the government says defrauded users of crores of rupees.

Urvashi Rautela, reportedly the brand ambassador for 1xBet in India, is set to appear today alongside Bengali actor Ankush Hazra. On Monday, Mimi Chakraborty’s statement was recorded by the ED. Last week, Shikhar Dhawan was questioned for over eight hours at the ED’s Delhi office, while Raina was questioned earlier in August about promotional activities and payments received from 1xBet. Harbhajan Singh was also summoned in June.

According to officials, a key focus of the investigation is whether celebrities were aware that betting apps like 1xBet — which frequently rebranded as 1xBat and others to bypass crackdowns — are illegal under Indian law. Though these platforms claim to offer skill-based games, investigators allege they use rigged algorithms that classify them as gambling enterprises under current regulations.
