Hockey India Names 33-Player Squad for Senior Men’s National Camp Ahead of Asia Cup, Australian Tour.
Hockey India has announced a 33-member core group for the Senior Men’s National Coaching Camp, which will be held from July 14 to August 7 at the Sports Authority of India (SAI) Centre in Bengaluru. This high-intensity training phase is part of India’s preparations for the upcoming Australian tour and the Asia Cup 2025, scheduled in Bihar from August 29 to September 7.
Importantly, the winner of the Asia Cup will secure a direct berth at the FIH Hockey Men’s World Cup 2026, making this camp a crucial step in India’s campaign planning.
Coach Fulton: “We Need to Finish Strong”
Reflecting on India’s recent campaign in the FIH Pro League 2024/25, where the team managed just one win in eight matches and finished eighth, head coach Craig Fulton said the squad showed competitiveness but lacked finishing power — something they excelled at in Bhubaneswar.
“Our focus now is on strengthening our ‘defend to counter to win’ approach. We’ve made progress, but there’s more work ahead,” Fulton said.
“Winning the Asia Cup is a big motivation. It’s our pathway to World Cup qualification.”
Continuity and Competition in Core Group
Despite recent setbacks, Hockey India has opted for continuity in its selection, retaining a solid mix of experience and emerging talent across all departments.
