4.4 Magnitude Earthquake Jolts Delhi-NCR, Epicentre in Haryana’s Jhajjar.

Strong tremors were felt across Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) on Thursday morning after a 4.4 magnitude earthquake struck Haryana’s Jhajjar district.

According to the National Center for Seismology, the quake occurred at 9:04 AM, with its epicentre located in Jhajjar, about 60 kilometres west of central Delhi. The tremors, which lasted several seconds, were felt across a wide swath of the region.

Residents in Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad, Gurugram, and Faridabad reported strong shaking, prompting many to rush out of buildings. Tremors were also experienced in Haryana’s Sonipat, Rohtak, and Hisar districts.

There have been no reports of casualties or damage so far.

On social media platform X, users shared videos and accounts of furniture shaking and ceiling fans swaying, with hashtags like #Earthquake and #DelhiTremors trending shortly after.

The quake comes just a day after heavy rains caused widespread waterlogging and traffic gridlocks across Delhi-NCR, compounding the sense of disruption for many residents.

Authorities have urged people to remain calm and stay informed through official channels for any aftershock advisories.
