Bihar CM Nitish Kumar Announces Rs 25,000 One-Time Allowance for Vikas Mitras Ahead of Elections.

Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Sunday announced a one-time allowance of Rs 25,000 for over 10,000 ‘Vikas Mitras’ working in villages, aimed at helping them purchase tablets to streamline their work.

The announcement also includes:

Transportation allowance increased from Rs 1,900 to Rs 2,500 per month.

Stationery allowance raised from Rs 900 to Rs 1,500 per month.

Financial aid of Rs 10,000 to more than 30,000 Shiksha Sevaks and Talimi Markaz staff, enabling them to buy smartphones for connecting children from Mahadalit, minority, and extremely backward communities to formal education.

Speaking on X (formerly Twitter), the CM said:

“It has been decided to provide Rs 10,000 to education workers, including Talimi Markaz staff, who play a key role in educating children of Mahadalit, Dalit, minority, and extremely backward communities and promoting women literacy under the Akshar Aanchal scheme.”

Additionally, the annual allocation for teaching materials has been increased from Rs 3,405 to Rs 6,000 per centre.

“These tablets and smartphones will help Vikas Mitras and education workers maintain digital records of beneficiaries and carry out welfare and educational activities more efficiently,” Kumar added.

The financial measures come just ahead of the Bihar Assembly elections, highlighting the government’s focus on the upliftment of deprived sections of society.
