Nawazuddin Siddiqui, known for his powerful and often intense performances in films like Gangs of Wasseypur, Raman Raghav 2.0, and Sacred Games, is now exploring a new genre with Thamma — a horror-comedy featuring Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna.
For Nawazuddin, this film holds personal significance — it’s the first movie his children will be able to watch. Speaking to HT City, the 51-year-old actor revealed that his son Yani and daughter Shora have never seen his previous films because they were too dark or disturbing for young audiences.
“Mujhe Thamma ke liye excitement isiliye bhi hai kyunki yeh pehli film hai jo mere bachche dekh paayenge. The kind of films I’ve done so far, kids can’t watch them. But this one is different — fun, quirky, and full of adventure,” Nawazuddin said with a laugh.
In a separate interview with The New Indian, he spoke fondly about his daughter, who currently studies in Dubai. “I’m more attached to my daughter. She’s fearless, honest, and never sugarcoats things. I like that she isn’t in awe of me as an actor — she openly criticises me and keeps me grounded. That’s a good thing. She hasn’t even seen most of my films,” he admitted.
The teaser of Thamma, released on August 19, 2025, gives a glimpse of what’s to come — a mix of laughter, mystery, and supernatural chaos. It opens with Ayushmann and Rashmika’s love story before Nawazuddin’s character makes a chilling yet humorous entry that turns everything upside down.
Ayushmann plays Alok, “insaaniyat ki aakhri umeed” (the last hope of humanity), while Rashmika’s Tadaka is described as “roshni ki pehli kiran” (the first ray of light). Together, the trio promises a rollercoaster ride filled with horror, heart, and humour — a refreshing departure for Nawazuddin, and one his children can finally enjoy.
