Red EcoSport Linked to Delhi Red Fort Blast Suspect Recovered in Faridabad
In a major breakthrough, authorities recovered a red Ford EcoSport connected to a key suspect in the deadly blast near Delhi’s Red Fort. The vehicle was located on Wednesday in Khandawali village, Faridabad, following an extensive search operation.
The car, bearing registration number DL 10 CK 0458, is registered to Dr. Umar Un Nabi, also known as Umar Mohammad, a suspect in the Red Fort attack. It was found parked outside a friend’s house, roughly 12 km from Al-Falah University — a site linked to the arrest of several individuals, including doctors and clerics, for alleged ties to terror outfits Jaish-e-Mohammed and Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind.
Investigations revealed that Umar had purchased the EcoSport using a fake address. The vehicle is currently cordoned off, and expert teams have been called in for a detailed forensic search.
Connection to Terror Network
Sources indicate that the discovery of a second vehicle, along with the Hyundai i20 used in the blast, suggests a larger, coordinated operational network and a layered escape plan. Intelligence officials say the vehicles were likely used to execute the attack and facilitate escape.
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) is leading the investigation, with support from Delhi Police and units in Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Jammu & Kashmir to trace the wider network.
The blast, which occurred on Monday near the historic Red Fort — the venue of the Prime Minister’s annual Independence Day address — killed 12 people and injured several others. Dr. Umar Un Nabi, an Assistant Professor at Al-Falah Medical College in Faridabad, is believed to have been driving the car involved in the explosion, marking him as a key figure in the ongoing investigation.
