Compressed natural gas (CNG) prices in Delhi have been increased once again, marking the second hike within 48 hours and adding further pressure on commuters across the NCR region.
According to the latest update on the Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL) website, CNG in the national capital now costs ₹80.09 per kg after a fresh ₹1 increase that came into effect on Sunday morning. The price was ₹79.09 per kg before the latest revision.
The latest hike follows an earlier ₹2 per kg increase announced on Friday, taking the cumulative rise over two days to ₹3 per kg. The repeated revisions are expected to impact daily travel costs for people dependent on CNG-powered autos, taxis and private vehicles.

Fuel prices in the capital have also witnessed a broader increase. Petrol rates in Delhi have gone up by ₹3 per litre to ₹97.77, while diesel prices have risen from ₹87.67 to ₹90.67 per litre.
The fuel price revisions come amid growing concerns over global energy supply disruptions linked to tensions in West Asia and uncertainty surrounding shipping movement through the strategically important Strait of Hormuz.
With operating costs rising sharply, auto and taxi unions in Delhi have renewed demands for a fare revision. In a letter addressed to Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, transport unions argued that higher fares are necessary to ease the financial burden on drivers.
The unions have proposed increasing the minimum fare for the first 1.5 kilometres from ₹30 to ₹50 and raising the per-kilometre charge from ₹11 to ₹15. They have also demanded waiting charges of ₹1 per minute and an additional ₹25 luggage fee, while retaining the existing 25% night surcharge between 11 pm and 5 am.
If approved, the revised fare structure could make auto and taxi rides significantly more expensive for commuters across Delhi-NCR.
