France recorded its hottest May day on record on Monday, the country’s weather agency said, while warning that temperatures are expected to climb even further on Tuesday.
“Across France as a whole, Monday was the hottest day ever recorded in the month of May since records began,” the agency said.
Forecasters said temperatures in several regions were expected to reach between 33°C and 36°C, with the unusually hot spell likely to persist at least through the end of the week.
