Ishan Kishan became the world’s No. 1 T20I batter in the latest ICC men’s rankings, ending teammate.

Abhishek Sharma’s year-long reign at the top after his stellar campaign in India’s triumphant ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. The wicketkeeper-batter climbed to a career-best rating after amassing 317 runs at a strike rate of nearly 200 during the tournament. His defining performance came against Pakistan in Colombo, where his match-winning innings earned him the Player of the Match award and played a key role in India’s title-winning run.

Kishan is now only the fourth Indian men’s batter to occupy the No. 1 spot in the ICC T20I batting rankings, joining Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav and Abhishek Sharma. Abhishek, who held the top ranking for almost a year, slipped to second, with just seven rating points separating the two Indian batters.

Ireland’s players also made notable gains after their historic T20I series victory over India. Lorcan Tucker climbed four places to joint 77th, while Ross Adair rose six spots to 84th in the batting rankings.

Left-arm pacer Matthew Humphreys was the biggest mover for Ireland, jumping to a career-best 25th in the T20I bowling rankings after taking four wickets in the two-match series. India’s Shivam Dube climbed three places to seventh among T20I all-rounders, while Ireland’s Gareth Delany and Harry Tector advanced to 24th and 38th, respectively.

Travis Head becomes No. 1 Test batter

Australia’s Travis Head climbed to the top of the ICC Test batting rankings for the first time in his career, replacing England’s Harry Brook.

Head moved to No. 1 after Brook and Joe Root failed to produce big scores in the Trent Bridge Test against New Zealand. Brook dropped to second, while Root slipped to third.

New Zealand’s victory over England was reflected in the rankings, with Rachin Ravindra moving up to seventh, Daryl Mitchell rising to 11th, Devon Conway jumping 14 places to joint 15th, and Tom Latham climbing to joint 31st.

India’s Jasprit Bumrah reclaimed the No. 1 position in the Test bowling rankings, overtaking New Zealand pacer Matt Henry.

Among all-rounders, England captain Ben Stokes rose to third in the Test rankings, while West Indies fast bowlers Shamar Joseph and Kemar Roach were rewarded for their performances against Sri Lanka, climbing to joint 14th and 17th, respectively, in the Test bowling rankings.
