Alpha Box Office Day 7: Alia Bhatt-Sharvari Film Ends First Week Below ₹50 Crore

Alia Bhatt and Sharvari’s Alpha has lost steam at the box office after an encouraging opening weekend, with the Yash Raj Films spy thriller ending its first week below the ₹50-crore mark in India.

Directed by Shiv Rawail, Alpha opened on a promising note, collecting ₹34 crore net during its first weekend. However, the film witnessed a sharp decline in collections from Monday onwards, and despite a brief recovery on Tuesday, it failed to maintain momentum through the rest of the week.

According to trade website Sacnilk, Alpha earned an estimated ₹2.60 crore net on Day 7 (Thursday), taking its first-week domestic total to ₹47.55 crore net. The film suffered a steep drop after the weekend, managing only ₹3.85 crore on Monday before collections fluctuated over the next few days.

The first female-led film in the YRF Spy Universe had initially outperformed the early box-office pace of Alia Bhatt’s Raazi and Gangubai Kathiawadi. However, the slowdown has seen it fall behind both films’ first-week trajectories.

Second weekend crucial

The road ahead appears even more challenging with the release of Dhamaal 4, which is expected to reduce Alpha’s screen count and limit its box-office growth.

Trade analysts believe the film will require a significant jump in collections over its second weekend to revive its theatrical run. Industry estimates suggest Alpha needs to comfortably cross the ₹100-crore net mark in India and around ₹150 crore worldwide gross to emerge as a commercially successful venture.

About the film

Alpha is the latest instalment in the YRF Spy Universe and marks the franchise’s first female-led action thriller. Directed by Shiv Rawail and written by Uday Chopra, the film stars Alia Bhatt, Sharvari, Bobby Deol, and Anil Kapoor, with Hrithik Roshan making a special appearance as Kabir from the War franchise.

Despite high expectations, the film opened to mixed-to-negative reviews from critics, with the weak word-of-mouth reflected in its declining box-office collections during the first week.
