Trump Says US Has 1-2 Iran Targets Left, Warns Tehran Against Pursuing Nuclear Weapons

US President Donald Trump has indicated that Washington could carry out further military strikes against Iran, claiming that only one or two targets remain on its list. Among the potential targets is Pickaxe Mountain, a suspected underground nuclear facility that the US believes could be linked to Iran’s nuclear programme.

Speaking to reporters at his Florida residence on Saturday, Trump reiterated that Iran would not be allowed to develop nuclear weapons, while suggesting that diplomatic negotiations with Tehran were making progress.

“Iran will never have a nuclear weapon. They want to make a deal; we’ll find out about that,” Trump said.

Discussing the ongoing negotiations, the US president described the talks as progressing well but expressed doubts about Tehran’s commitment to any agreement. He alleged that Iran had previously agreed to deals before withdrawing from them.

Trump also claimed that US military operations had significantly damaged Iran’s nuclear and military infrastructure, although a few targets remained.

“We’ve knocked out their nuclear. We still have to take care of, I would say one or two sites, but we can do that in 10 minutes,” he said.

Highlighting Pickaxe Mountain, the suspected underground nuclear complex, Trump suggested that the site could be among the remaining targets. He added that the US could deal with it quickly if necessary.

However, the Iranian government has denied that nuclear activities are taking place at the facility.

Washington Keeps Military Option Open
Trump’s comments came amid continued uncertainty over the possibility of renewed US military action against Iran. While the administration has indicated that diplomacy remains an option, it has not ruled out additional strikes.

Earlier on Saturday, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Trump had yet to make a decision on whether to launch fresh attacks. He also reiterated Washington’s willingness to pursue a diplomatic settlement.

Meanwhile, Iran’s Supreme Leader warned the United States and Israel against carrying out further military operations. The warning followed Trump’s threats of renewed strikes after the US midterm elections.

Trump had earlier said he was considering whether to “finish them off”, signalling that military action remained under consideration despite ongoing diplomatic contacts.

US-Israel War Against Iran Continues To Shape Tensions
The United States and Israel launched their military campaign against Iran at the end of February. Since then, Trump has repeatedly claimed that the strikes have inflicted extensive damage on Iran’s military infrastructure and nuclear capabilities.

Washington has maintained that preventing Tehran from acquiring nuclear weapons remains a central objective. However, Trump’s latest remarks indicate that the administration is continuing to weigh military pressure alongside the possibility of reaching a negotiated agreement.
