Pune Woman Secretly Returns From UK; Food Delivery Order Leads Police to Her Body

A 34-year-old woman who secretly returned to India from London months ago was found dead inside her rented apartment in Pune.

Her family’s search for her began after she stopped responding to calls and messages, while food delivery transactions eventually provided crucial clues about her whereabouts.

The deceased, identified as Mugdha Deshmukh, originally belonged to Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. She travelled to the United Kingdom in July last year to pursue an MBA, where she lived independently and also worked part-time.

According to police, Mugdha remained in regular contact with her family through phone calls and messages. However, on October 24, her family became concerned when she stopped responding. Her mobile phone was subsequently switched off.

Her worried parents contacted a friend of hers in London, who said she had last communicated with Mugdha through messages on October 22. The friend also approached London police to report her missing. However, authorities reportedly informed her that Mugdha had left the UK towards the end of August.

Food Delivery Payments Revealed Her Location
Unable to establish contact with their daughter, Mugdha’s family sought assistance from Indian authorities and the Indian High Commission.

During this time, her father examined her bank statements and noticed several food delivery transactions recorded between October 8 and October 25. Some of these payments were linked to the Osamanpura area of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, raising suspicions that she had returned to India without informing her family.

The information prompted further investigation, and police eventually traced her location to the Lodha Belmondo residential complex in Gahunje, Pune.

When officers reached the apartment, they sought the assistance of a keymaker to gain entry. Inside, they discovered Mugdha’s body.

Senior Inspector Devendra Chavan of Shirgaon Police Station in Pimpri Chinchwad confirmed the discovery, stating that officers traced her location to the residential complex before entering the flat. Police said there were no visible external injury marks on her body.

Woman Had Rented Flat Months Earlier
Investigators found that Mugdha had rented the apartment in April but started living there in August.

The circumstances surrounding her return from the UK, her stay in Pune and her death are now being investigated. Police have not yet established the cause of death, and further investigation is underway.
