Actress Shamim Akbar Alli, known for her role in the 2021 film In the Month of July, has filed a police complaint alleging.

That an autorickshaw driver assaulted her in Mumbai’s Mira Road area on Saturday, November 1. The incident reportedly occurred while she was travelling with her five-year-old daughter in the afternoon.

According to her statement to police, the altercation began around 2:45 pm when she asked the driver to stop near her daughter’s school. “The driver became agitated and started yelling at me, demanding the fare immediately because he was in a hurry,” Shamim told Mid-Day. “I picked up my daughter and got back into the same rickshaw, asking him to drop us home.”

When they reached the gate of her residential complex, Shamim said the situation escalated further. “Before I could get out of the vehicle, he turned around, grabbed my right hand, and twisted it while I was still inside with my daughter,” she alleged.

Following the incident, Shamim approached Kashimira police station, where she lodged a complaint. The police have recorded her statement and noted the autorickshaw’s registration number.

A senior police officer confirmed that an investigation is underway to identify and locate the driver. “We have begun an inquiry based on the actress’s complaint and are verifying CCTV footage from the area,” the officer said.
