TDP Minister’s Cousin Arrested for Slapping Police Constable at Temple Event in Andhra.
A cousin of Telugu Desam Party (TDP) Minister BC Janardhan Reddy has been arrested for assaulting an on-duty police constable during a temple inauguration ceremony in Andhra Pradesh’s Nandyal district. The incident, which occurred on Thursday, was captured on video and has since gone viral on social media.
The altercation took place at the Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple in Kolimigundla mandal, where AR constable Jaswanth Kumar was posted for security duty. According to the police complaint, the constable stopped the minister’s cousin, identified as Bobbala Madana Bhupal Reddy, from entering a restricted area. In response, Bhupal Reddy allegedly abused and slapped the officer in full public view.
The Kolimigundla police registered a case against Bhupal Reddy under multiple sections of the Indian Penal Code, including provisions related to obstructing and assaulting a public servant. He was arrested on Friday morning.
TDP Minister BC Janardhan Reddy, who was present at the event, publicly condemned the assault. “I strongly condemn the attack on the AR constable. As soon as I came to know about it, I directed senior police officials to register an FIR and initiate legal proceedings. Such behavior is unacceptable in public life. Those in positions of influence must act with responsibility,” he said in a statement.
