Ayodhya donation row: Lawyers file complaint against Champat Rai, demand FIR
A group of around 70–80 lawyers marched to the Ram Janmabhoomi Police Station in Uttar Pradesh’s Ayodhya on Thursday and lodged a complaint against Champat Rai, former general secretary of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teertha Kshetra Trust, over the alleged donation theft at the Ram Temple.
Raising chants of “Jai Shri Ram”, the lawyers demanded that police register an FIR against Rai in connection with the alleged irregularities in the temple’s donation collection process.
Sources told CNN-News18 that the protesters breached police barricades while marching towards the police station to submit their complaint. Police personnel were deployed to manage the situation, and no major law-and-order incident was reported.
The complaint comes amid an ongoing investigation into alleged irregularities in the handling of donations at the Ram Temple, a case that has already led to multiple arrests. The lawyers have sought a detailed probe into the alleged misconduct and action against those found responsible.
