Bank Holiday Today: Banks Closed on December 25 for Christmas; Check Status

As Christians across the world celebrate Christmas on December 25, banks in India will remain closed today in observance of the holiday, as per the RBI holiday calendar.

Bank Services on Christmas
While physical branches are closed, customers can continue using digital banking services such as net banking, mobile banking, UPI, and ATMs. However, cheque clearing and other over-the-counter services under the Negotiable Instruments Act will not be available.

Stock Markets Closed
Indian stock markets, including the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), are also closed today. Trading across equity, derivatives, and securities lending & borrowing (SLB) segments is suspended. Currency and commodity markets are also shut.

This marks the last market holiday of the year, with trading set to resume on Friday, December 26, 2025. The next scheduled market holiday in India will be January 26, 2026, for Republic Day.
