BCCI Prepares for AGM, Leadership Picks on Agenda.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is set to hold a high-level meeting in the coming days to finalise candidates for the posts of president and vice-president ahead of its Annual General Meeting (AGM) later this month. The AGM is scheduled for the last week of September in Mumbai.

Sources say continuity is likely in several positions, with the current secretary, joint secretary, and treasurer expected to retain their roles. The spotlight, however, is on the president’s chair, which remains open. Names under consideration reportedly range from a former India cricketer to senior administrators, though a final choice will be made only after the leadership huddle.

Vice-president Rajeev Shukla has emerged as a key figure in the discussions. He could continue in his present role, step up as president, or be offered the IPL chairmanship. Insiders suggest his continuation as vice-president is most likely, though there is a “60-40 chance” of him being elevated to president.

The IPL chairmanship may also change hands. Former BCCI treasurer Anirudh Choudhury and Bengal’s Avishek Dalmiya, a member of the IPL Governing Council, are being seen as possible contenders.

A formal AGM notice is expected within the next few days. The outcome of the leadership meeting will set the tone not just for elections but also for the balance of power within the board.
