‘Border 2’ Crosses ₹275 Crore Worldwide by Day 5, Outpaces ‘Sitaare Zameen Par’

Varun Dhawan’s latest release, Border 2, has minted ₹275 crore worldwide in just five days, and the actor is using the film’s success to respond to critics who targeted him even before the film’s release.

The scrutiny began with the release of the song Ghar Kab Aaoge, which led to memes about Varun’s expressions and smile circulating on social media. Rather than reacting publicly at the time, Varun has kept his focus on his work.

Recently, he reshared director Shashank Khaitan’s glowing review of his performance, which read: “You might have a ‘tedhi smile’… but you have the cleanest heart and sincere eyes. All of that is on full display in Border 2. Such a solid, sincere performance. Love you, my brother… congrats on this blockbuster and many more to come.”

Varun also shared a picture on Instagram Story of himself surrounded by fans, captioning it, “Border 2 🇮🇳. Love will always triumph hate. Thank you 🙏.”

Speaking earlier at the Braves Of The Soil tribute trailer launch for Border 2, Varun reiterated that he prefers to let his work speak for itself rather than engage with negativity.

“I believe you shut down the noise and just let your work do the talking. Yeh sab cheezein chalti rehti hain. Main iske liye kaam karta hoon. Main jis cheez ke liye kaam karta hoon, woh Friday ko sabko pata chalega,” he said.

He added that his faith lies in the quality of the film, not box-office numbers or social media opinions. “Mujhe film pe bharosa hai. Ek achi film banana bohot important hai. Numbers ya social media ka kuch lena dena nahi hai. But I believe ki humne ek achi film banayi hai. That’s the most important thing.”

Varun concluded by highlighting the ultimate goal of filmmaking: entertaining audiences. “Log jab theatre mein jaate hain, sab bhool jaate hain. They just want to be entertained. Aur kuch maine nahi rakha hai. Main school se aaya hoon jahaan aapka kaam bolta hai,” he said.

Since release, Border 2 has received largely positive reviews, with many praising Varun for his composed and confident performance.
