Delhi Police Deploy 250 CCTV Cameras, AI Surveillance For INDIA Bloc’s Ramlila Maidan Rally

Delhi Police have rolled out an extensive security plan at Ramlila Maidan ahead of the Congress-led INDIA bloc’s major rally on November 1.

The arrangements include 200-250 high-definition CCTV cameras, AI-enabled surveillance, dedicated monitoring rooms and emergency evacuation routes to ensure security and manage the expected crowds.

The rally is being organised to demand the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.

Security preparations are underway across the 12-acre venue, with police personnel installing barricades, metal detectors and baggage-screening equipment. Special attention is being given to entry and exit points, crowd movement and emergency response arrangements.

250 CCTV Cameras, AI Surveillance To Monitor Rally
According to Delhi Police, approximately 200-250 CCTV cameras will be deployed across Ramlila Maidan and its surrounding areas. The cameras will cover important locations, including entry and exit gates, with live footage monitored through dedicated control rooms.

Police personnel will also use body-worn cameras, while AI-enabled cameras will assist with face scanning in and around the venue. A temporary control room will coordinate surveillance activities and communicate instructions to security teams stationed on the ground.

These measures are intended to help officers identify potential security concerns, monitor crowd movement and respond quickly to any untoward incident.

Security Divided Into 14 Zones
For effective management, the entire venue has been divided into 14 security zones, each supervised by an Assistant Commissioner of Police-rank officer. These zones will further be grouped into eight regions under the supervision of senior police officials.

Around 3,000-3,500 police personnel are expected to be deployed in and around the venue, alongside central armed police forces. Authorities are preparing for an estimated gathering of nearly 50,000 people.

Of the eight gates at Ramlila Maidan, only three will be used for public entry. Separate gates have been designated for VIPs and senior police officers.

Participants will have to undergo two rounds of security checks before entering the venue. Metal detectors and baggage-screening systems will also be used as part of the security arrangements.

Emergency Exits And Crowd Management Measures
Delhi Police have also prepared a dedicated evacuation plan to ensure the safe movement of people in case of an emergency. A separate gate will be used for evacuation, while security personnel will closely monitor crowd movement to prevent unauthorised processions towards other parts of the national capital.

Organisers have been directed to deploy sufficient volunteers and make arrangements for drinking water and separate toilet facilities for women. They have also been asked to coordinate vehicle parking arrangements with traffic police.

Authorities have sought detailed information about invitees, volunteers and buses being used to transport rally participants to facilitate better security and traffic management.

Rally To Continue From 10 AM To 5 PM
The INDIA bloc rally is scheduled to take place from 10 am to 5 pm on November 1. Police have made it clear that the event must conclude within the permitted timeframe.

Organisers have also been informed that overnight stays at Ramlila Maidan will not be permitted.

With thousands of security personnel, AI-assisted surveillance and multiple layers of access control, Delhi Police are preparing for one of the major political gatherings in the capital, aiming to ensure that the rally proceeds without security or law-and-order disruptions.
