Dipika Kakar Discharged After 14-Hour Cancer Surgery, Shoaib Ibrahim Says: ‘One Milestone Crossed, Many Ahead’

Actor Shoaib Ibrahim has shared a heartfelt update on wife Dipika Kakar’s health, revealing that she has been discharged from the hospital 11 days after undergoing a 14-hour surgery for stage 2 liver cancer. In his latest vlog, Shoaib opened up about the emotional journey, the difficult days they’ve endured, and the uncertain road that still lies ahead.

“We’ve crossed one milestone”
“Dipika has been discharged after 11 days. She’s come in for a check-up today,” Shoaib said. “The past few days have been incredibly difficult for me and my family, but we’re so thankful for everyone’s prayers. While the surgery went well and she is recovering, this is just one step — there are still many things we need to monitor and treat.”

Dipika, who was visibly emotional while leaving the hospital, personally thanked the doctors and hugged nurses who took care of her. In the video, she is seen reuniting with her son Ruhaan and other family members at home.

Tumour was malignant, follow-ups required
Shoaib revealed that doctors confirmed the tumour was malignant, and follow-up treatments will be necessary. “We’ll need to come back in a week for further evaluation. The doctors will then decide if any additional treatment is required. Right now, we’re just taking it one step at a time.”

He also recalled the difficult moment when they were informed about the malignancy: “Dipika and I broke down when the doctor told us. But they gave us space and support, saying ‘Take your time, we understand.’ That meant a lot.”

Dipika’s emotional message to fans
Though still recovering, Dipika sat beside Shoaib in the vlog. With teary eyes, she expressed her gratitude: “The fact that so many of you took even two minutes to read namaz or pray for me means so much. You don’t know how much strength that gave us.”

The couple postponed releasing the vlog earlier, choosing to respect the victims of the tragic Ahmedabad plane crash. At the end of the video, both Shoaib and Dipika offered their condolences to the families affected.

Inside the surgery
Dipika was diagnosed with a liver tumour in May. During surgery earlier this month, doctors removed not just the tumour, but also her gall bladder and a portion of her liver. “Because the liver had a tumour, a small part had to be removed. But there’s no need to panic — the liver is an organ that regenerates itself,” Shoaib explained.
