Drishyam 3: Will Ajay Devgn’s Vijay Salgaonkar Follow Mohanlal’s Georgekutty Story?

The third instalment of the Drishyam franchise is taking a different narrative path in its Hindi and Malayalam versions.

While Mohanlal returns as Georgekutty in the Malayalam Drishyam 3, Ajay Devgn reprises his role as Vijay Salgaonkar in Drishyam: The Conclusion. Unlike the first two films, however, the two versions do not tell the same story.

Drishyam: The Conclusion Is Not a Malayalam Remake

The first two Hindi Drishyam films closely followed Jeethu Joseph’s Malayalam originals. The third Hindi film, however, has been developed from a new screenplay.

Ajay Devgn recently confirmed that Drishyam: The Conclusion is not simply an adaptation with changes made to the existing Malayalam storyline. He said an entirely new script has been written for the Hindi version and expressed his desire for Mohanlal to watch the film.

Director Abhishek Pathak has also highlighted the difference between the two films. According to him, the Hindi version takes a drama-thriller approach, while the Malayalam Drishyam 3 puts more emphasis on family drama.

What Happens to Georgekutty in Drishyam 3?

Mohanlal’s Georgekutty returns in Jeethu Joseph’s Malayalam Drishyam 3 following the events of the second film. The story introduces another threat for Georgekutty and his family.

Unlike the earlier films, Georgekutty is no longer certain that someone is pursuing him or even knows who might be after him. This uncertainty becomes a key element of the new chapter.

Vijay Salgaonkar Faces a New Challenge

Ajay Devgn’s Vijay Salgaonkar also returns with the events of the first two Hindi films forming the backdrop, but his third chapter follows a different storyline.

The trailer introduces Jaideep Ahlawat as SP Crime Branch Rajveer Singh Tomar, a new investigator determined to reopen and solve the case surrounding Vijay and his family. Vijay is once again forced to protect the secrets of his past as the investigation brings fresh pressure.

Prakash Raj adds another layer to the conflict, while Tabu, Shriya Saran and Rajat Kapoor reprise their roles.

With both films continuing the stories of Georgekutty and Vijay Salgaonkar separately, Drishyam 3 marks a departure from the remake pattern established by the first two instalments.
