Punjabi actress and former Bigg Boss contestant Himanshi Khurana has filed a police complaint after allegedly receiving a Rs 10 crore extortion threat, officials said on Saturday.
According to Mohali Police, Khurana approached authorities after receiving a threatening email on her personal ID. The email reportedly included a voice note allegedly sent by a foreign-based gangster demanding Rs 10 crore.
Based on her complaint, an FIR has been registered at Sohana police station under Sections 308(4) (extortion) and 351(3) (criminal intimidation) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Superintendent of Police (Investigation) Saurav Jindal said the matter is being taken seriously. “As per the complaint, the email contained a voice note allegedly sent by a foreign-based gangster demanding Rs 10 crore as extortion money,” he stated. Police have begun efforts to trace the origin of the email and analyse the voice recording as part of the investigation.
Authorities said further legal action will follow based on the findings of the probe.
Khurana is known for her role in the 2013 Punjabi film Sadda Haq and has appeared in several music videos. She gained nationwide recognition after participating in the 13th season of Bigg Boss.
The incident comes weeks after Punjabi singer Dilnoor reportedly approached Mohali Police with a complaint alleging that he received a call threatening singer B Praak and demanding Rs 10 crore in extortion.
