Beauty & The Best Magazine presented an evening of fashion, Sufi music and Indian craftsmanship featuring British-Indian designer Smrutha Santhosh and her luxury label Wow Vastra

British-Indian fashion designer and entrepreneur Smrutha Santhosh, founder of luxury label Wow Vastra, took centre stage at the Sufi Soiree & Red Carpet Fashion Walk 2026, presented by Beauty & The Best Magazine on August 21 at The Local Heights Lounge, Punjabi Bagh, New Delhi.

Bringing together fashion, culture, soulful Sufi music and red-carpet glamour, the evening celebrated India’s rich artistic heritage through a showcase of distinctive creations by Smrutha Santhosh and Wow Vastra.

Smrutha Santhosh Takes Centre Stage

The fashion presentation featured a curated selection of glamorous creations by Smrutha Santhosh, whose design philosophy brings together contemporary luxury and India’s enduring textile and craft traditions.

Smrutha made headlines in 2025 as the first British-Indian female fashion designer to walk the prestigious Cannes Film Festival red carpet. She appeared in her own creation alongside a model wearing an exquisite lehenga saree embellished with real peacock feathers, drawing international attention to her distinctive approach to Indian couture.

At the New Delhi event, the Sufi Soiree & Red Carpet Fashion Walk paired soulful melodies with a fashion showcase by Wow Vastra, reflecting Smrutha’s vision of taking India’s traditional craftsmanship to contemporary and international audiences.

Beauty & The Best Magazine Cover Unveiled

One of the evening’s highlights was the unveiling of the Beauty & The Best Magazine cover featuring Smrutha Santhosh.

The cover celebrated her journey from a successful corporate career in the UK to becoming a fashion entrepreneur and designer committed to Indian craftsmanship. The unveiling was followed by a cake-cutting ceremony.

Distinguished guests Neeru Vashisth and Vijay Laxmi were also welcomed at the event, with their special cover posters unveiled during the celebrations.

Celebrity Guests Add Glamour to the Evening

The event brought together an impressive gathering of dignitaries, celebrities, entrepreneurs, fashion professionals, influencers and creative personalities.

Adding further glamour to the evening was a red-carpet fashion walk featuring Mr. India Pardeep Kumar, Mr. India Rohan Sharma, Miss India Runner-up Ankita Jaiswal, Supriti Karmakar, Sima Mondal, Hemant, Sapna Patwal, Anju Sharma, Barkha Bharara and Geetanshi Duggal.

From Investment Banking to Fashion

Smrutha Santhosh’s journey to fashion is rooted in a distinguished corporate career in the UK.

Speaking about her transition, she said:

“Having lived in the UK for 23 years, I have built a distinguished, highly structured career as a management consultant in investment banking. A few years ago, I channelled that same precision, discipline and professionalism into my true passion—fashion—founding Wow Vastra, a bespoke luxury label deeply rooted in India’s rich heritage of handwoven textiles, including Kanchipuram, Banarasi, Ajrakh and Jamdani.”

Her move from investment banking and management consulting into fashion reflects a desire to combine the structure and precision of her professional background with her passion for India’s textile heritage.

Wow Vastra Celebrates Indian Craftsmanship

Founded by Smrutha Santhosh, Wow Vastra places craftsmanship, individuality and artisan empowerment at the centre of its design philosophy.

Each creation is envisioned as a distinctive piece and developed in collaboration with traditional artisans from different regions of India. The label draws inspiration from celebrated textile traditions including Kanchipuram, Banarasi, Ajrakh and Jamdani, while seeking to create sustainable opportunities and greater recognition for the artisans behind the craft.

“This is the real heart of Wow Vastra: every outfit we sell helps a woman in India stand a little taller,” said Smrutha Santhosh.
