Himanshu Bhau: Who Is the Haryana Gangster Reportedly Arrested in the US?

Haryana gangster Himanshu Bhau, one of India’s most-wanted fugitives, has reportedly been arrested in the United States by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), according to India Today. He faces multiple criminal cases in India, including murder, attempted murder and extortion, registered in Delhi and Haryana.

Bhau, whose real name is Himanshu Ritoliya, hails from Ritoli village in Rohtak district, Haryana. Investigators allege that he built a criminal network spanning Delhi-NCR, Haryana and Punjab while operating from abroad.

An Interpol Red Notice was issued against him in August 2023 following a request from Indian law enforcement agencies. He has also featured on the wanted lists of the National Investigation Agency (NIA), Delhi Police and Haryana Police.

Who Is Himanshu Bhau?
Born in 2002, Bhau is among the younger figures associated with Haryana’s organised crime networks. According to police accounts, he allegedly entered the criminal world as a teenager and escaped from a juvenile correctional facility in 2020 along with other inmates.

Investigators have linked him to cases involving murder, attempted murder, extortion, illegal firearms and criminal conspiracy. Authorities allege that he continued directing criminal activities from overseas through associates operating in India.

Reports have also linked Bhau to the Neeraj Bawana gang and described a violent rivalry between his alleged network and the Lawrence Bishnoi-Goldy Brar gang.

Alleged Links to High-Profile Shootings
Bhau and individuals associated with his alleged gang have been linked by investigators to several shootings and murder cases in Delhi and Haryana.

These include the murder at a Burger King outlet in Delhi and firing outside the residence of YouTuber Elvish Yadav. The gang has also been accused of using targeted attacks and threats to intimidate businesspeople and extort money.

Bhau came under increased police scrutiny in 2022 after three murders were reported in Haryana within 24 hours. Investigators subsequently alleged that members of his network used armed associates to carry out attacks against selected targets.

More recently, alleged members of the Bhau gang were investigated in connection with the killing of a property dealer in outer Delhi. According to the supplied report, Delhi Police arrested two alleged shooters following an encounter in September 2026 and detained a juvenile accomplice in the case.

Interpol Red Notice and Indian Agencies’ Efforts
Interpol issued a Red Notice against Bhau in August 2023 after Indian authorities sought international assistance in locating him. At the time, police reportedly linked him to 18 cases involving offences such as murder, attempted murder, extortion, criminal intimidation and forgery.

An Interpol Red Notice requests that law enforcement agencies worldwide locate a person and provisionally arrest them, where permitted by national law, pending extradition or similar legal proceedings. It is not an international arrest warrant in itself.

The reported arrest in the US could mark an important development in the efforts of Indian agencies to bring Bhau back to face the cases registered against him. However, his return to India would depend on the applicable legal procedures, including any extradition proceedings.

The reported development places renewed attention on the international efforts to track fugitives accused of running organised criminal networks across state and national borders.
