Three Suspected Terrorists Spark Massive Search Operation in J&K’s Udhampur.

A major security alert has been triggered in Udhampur district, Jammu & Kashmir, after three suspected terrorists knocked on the door of a Bakerwal family in Basantgarh late at night, requesting food.

The incident took place in Chingla-Balotha village, a remote settlement in the upper reaches of Basantgarh. The house owner fled in panic and alerted police, prompting the Army, J&K Police, and CRPF to launch a large-scale cordon-and-search operation. Officials confirmed that no contact has been established with the suspects so far.

The search intensified after the family’s account confirmed the suspects’ presence. Security forces are combing dense forests and rugged terrain with sniffer dogs, UAVs, and specialized tracking teams. Villagers have been advised to stay indoors and report any suspicious activity.

High-Risk Infiltration Corridor

Basantgarh lies along a known infiltration route, often exploited by terrorists crossing the International Border in the Kathua sector. From there, they move through upper reaches toward Doda and Kishtwar before attempting entry into the Kashmir Valley. The region has witnessed multiple encounters and terror-related incidents in recent years, making it a closely monitored forest corridor in Jammu division.

Search Operation Continues

Security forces have expanded the operation to nearby hamlets and forest patches, anticipating the suspects may still be hiding. While no encounter has occurred yet, authorities remain on high alert, and the operation will continue until the suspects are either apprehended or the area is fully secured.
