Kangana Ranaut’s ‘Emergency’ release postponed amid ongoing political campaigns

The release date of Kangana Ranaut’s upcoming film, ‘Emergency’, has been postponed amid her ongoing political campaigns.

The film, based on the life of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, was previously scheduled for release on June 14. Kangana plays the titular character in the film. The makers of the same announced the film’s delay on May 15. The new release date is yet to be mentioned.

Kangana Ranaut’s upcoming film, ‘Emergency’ was to release in theatres on June 14. The same has been pushed amid her ongoing political campaign for BJP. The makers announced the film’s delay with a note that can be read, “Our hearts are filled with love pouring in for our queen Kangana Ranaut.”

The note further read, “As she prioritises her duty to the nation and her commitment to serve the country, the release date of our much awaited film ‘Emergency’ has been postponed. We promise to update you soon with a new release date. Thank you for your continued support. #EmergencyComingSoon (sic).”

As per PTI, Kangana Ranaut once said in a statement, “‘Emergency’ is my most ambitious project and second directorial post-‘Manikarnika’, we have the best of Indian and international talent come together for this big budget, grand period drama.” The film was previously set to release on November 24, 2023.

Meanwhile, Kangana Ranaut is a BJP candidate from Mandi Lok Sabha seat in Himachal Pradesh. In an exclusive conversation with IndiaToday/Aaj Tak, the actor said she did not see herself as a politician and praised PM Narendra Modi, saying he was her source of inspiration.

She also mentioned that she had a ‘natural alignment’ with the BJP and underlined the need to serve the people with dedication.

“Serving the people is not everyone’s cup of tea. Everyone, including me, has dreams. I was in the film industry for 20 years and had a lavish life. I don’t see myself as a neta (politician). I am just a BJP candidate out there to serve the people,” she said.

“I have a natural alignment with the BJP. Apart from that, I believe in Bhagvad Geeta’s lessons to fight for our rights. I have been a fan of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose too,” she added.

As for her upcoming film ‘Emergency’, it also features Anupam Kher, Milind Soman, Mahima Chaudhry, the late Satish Kaushik, and Shreyas Talpade.
