Karthi’s fans can finally breathe easy. After weeks of shifting dates, confusion, and nonstop speculation across social media, the makers of Vaa Vaathiyaar have officially locked the film’s new release date.
With promotions now accelerating and updates arriving in quick succession, the team has moved to set the record straight — along with an added musical surprise.
The film is now slated to release in theatres on December 12, revising the earlier planned December 5 date that had to be pushed due to unforeseen delays. The confirmation came alongside the poster of the film’s third single, sparking renewed excitement among fans.
As part of the refreshed promotional rollout, the makers also announced that the third single, “Mu Dha La Li,” along with its lyric video, will drop on December 5. This aligns with the new strategy the team has adopted to rebuild momentum ahead of the film’s arrival.
So far, promotional material has largely highlighted Karthi’s character — glimpsed briefly in the teaser — where he appears as a stylish, high-energy police officer introduced with full hero swagger. Santhosh Narayanan’s background score underlines the film’s tone, promising a blend of attitude, style, and slick action.
Music has already played a significant role in building hype. The first single, “Uyir Pathikaama,” sung by Vijaynarain, Aditya Ravindran, and Santhosh Narayanan with lyrics by Vivek, received an enthusiastic response across platforms.
Vaa Vaathiyaar marks the third collaboration between composer Santhosh Narayanan and director Nalan Kumarasamy, following their acclaimed work in Soodhu Kavvum and Kadhalum Kadandhu Pogum. The film’s technical team features cinematographer George C Williams and editor Vetri Krishnan.
Produced by KE Gnanavel Raja under Studio Green Productions, the film continues to maintain secrecy around its plot. Early glimpses, however, hint at a potent mix of action-driven storytelling centred around Karthi’s character.
Karthi was last seen in Meiyazhagan, alongside Arvind Swamy and Sri Divya, directed by C Prem Kumar. He is currently juggling multiple upcoming projects, including PS Mithran’s Sardar 2 and Marshal, helmed by Taanaakkaran director Tamizh.
