Mojtaba Khamenei Vows Revenge for Father Ali Khamenei, Says Retribution Is ‘Inevitable’

Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei on Saturday vowed to avenge the killing of his father and predecessor, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, declaring that those responsible would face retribution regardless of who remained in power.

In a message posted on social media during his father’s funeral ceremonies, Mojtaba Khamenei said the Iranian people demanded justice for Ali Khamenei and others killed in the recent conflict.

“We pledge to avenge the blood of the martyred leader and all the martyrs of these two wars from the criminal and disgraced killers,” he said.

Khamenei asserted that Iran’s response was inevitable and would not depend on any individual leader.

“Whether we are present or not, it will come to pass,” he wrote, adding that the vow of revenge “must inevitably be carried out.”

Pays Tribute to Millions at Funeral

The Iranian leader also thanked the millions of mourners who attended funeral ceremonies across Iran and Iraq, calling the turnout a powerful display of unity.

“I extend my heartfelt gratitude for the incredible, enemy-shattering, and historic turnout of tens of millions of people across Iran and Iraq, particularly in Tehran, Qom, Najaf, Karbala and Mashhad,” he said.

The statement coincided with funeral ceremonies for Ali Khamenei, who was killed in US-Israeli strikes on his office in Tehran on February 28. He was laid to rest at the Holy Shrine of Imam Reza in Mashhad, where thousands gathered to pay their final respects.

Trump Reiterates Warning to Iran

A day before Mojtaba Khamenei’s statement, US President Donald Trump claimed he had already instructed officials to respond with overwhelming force if Iran ever succeeded in assassinating him.

Speaking to the New York Post, Trump said Iran had considered him a target for years.

“I’ve been on their list for a long time. The only thing is, I’ve left instructions, if anything happens, to just literally bomb them at levels that they’ve never seen before,” he said.

Asked about reports of a fresh Iranian assassination plot, Trump dismissed suggestions of any new intelligence but maintained that Tehran had long sought to kill him.

“I’ve been No. 1 on Iran’s kill list for a long time,” he said, before adding, “I hope you’ll miss me.”

The White House also confirmed that changes to Trump’s travel plans following the NATO summit in Ankara were part of routine security measures designed to protect the president.

The exchange of statements highlights the continuing hostility between Tehran and Washington following the killing of Ali Khamenei, with tensions remaining high despite the end of active hostilities.
