Petrol and diesel prices remained unchanged across the country on Wednesday, May 20, a day.
After Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) implemented another round of fuel price hikes amid rising global crude oil prices linked to the ongoing Iran-US conflict.
The latest increase marked the second fuel price revision within a week. Earlier, OMCs had already raised petrol and diesel prices by Rs 3 per litre as mounting geopolitical tensions in West Asia continued to disrupt global energy markets and push crude prices higher.

India, which imports nearly 85-90 per cent of its crude oil requirements, remains highly vulnerable to fluctuations in international oil prices and supply disruptions caused by geopolitical instability.
The sustained rise in crude prices has also increased pressure on India’s foreign exchange reserves, while OMCs are reportedly facing significant daily losses due to elevated import costs.
Fuel retailers revise petrol and diesel prices every day at 6 AM based on global crude benchmarks and fluctuations in currency exchange rates.

Following the recent hike, Hyderabad continued to record the highest petrol prices among major Indian cities. Petrol in the city was priced at Rs 111.84 per litre on May 20, while Thiruvananthapuram followed closely at Rs 111.70 per litre.
Chandigarh remained among the cheapest cities for petrol, with rates at Rs 98.10 per litre. Lucknow and Noida also continued to report relatively lower fuel prices compared to several metropolitan cities, with petrol costing Rs 98.42 and Rs 98.65 per litre respectively.
In the diesel segment, Thiruvananthapuram recorded the highest rate at Rs 100.59 per litre, followed by Hyderabad where diesel was priced at Rs 99.95 per litre.
Meanwhile, CNG prices in major cities largely remained stable despite broader volatility in global energy markets.
