Sunny Leone on ‘Pink Lips’ Going Viral Again: “I Want to Thank the Person Who Brought It Back”
Instagram Reels has become a surprising time machine, reviving old songs and giving them a second life. The latest to ride this wave is Sunny Leone’s 2014 hit track Pink Lips from Hate Story 2, which has suddenly resurfaced as a viral trend.
“I had no idea until my manager said, ‘Pink Lips is everywhere right now.’ I was confused at first,” Sunny recalls. “But when I checked Instagram and saw the clips, it was amazing. I’m just happy it’s back on everyone’s playlist and that people are enjoying it.”
The unexpected resurgence has stirred memories of shooting the song. “I remember everything about that set,” she shares. “Rehearsals were tough, even frustrating at times. But the choreography was so cool, and once we hit the set, it all clicked. Back then, I never imagined this song would make a comeback like this. I honestly want to find the person who revived it online and thank them in person.”
Over the years, Sunny has featured in several chartbusters, from Baby Doll in Ragini MMS 2 to Laila Main Laila in Raees. She says she takes pride in these enduring hits: “Everywhere I go, these songs are played. I remember when I did Laila in Shootout at Wadala, John Abraham told me, ‘Trust me, this song will live on.’ I didn’t fully understand it at the time, but now I do. When it plays today, it still feels incredible.”
However, she feels the magic around music in films isn’t quite the same anymore. “Back when I started, releasing a song felt like an event,” Sunny reflects. “There was a huge buzz, and sometimes a film’s success depended on one hit track. But in the last five years, even good songs seem to come and go. They don’t stick.”
She hopes that energy returns. “I’d love to see that era come back — when audiences got excited about film music, and people flocked to theatres to experience their favourite songs on the big screen.”
