Thailand Visa-Free Entry for Indians From Sept 15: 30-Day Stay Rules You Need to Know

Thailand is making travel easier for Indian tourists from September 15, 2026.

Under a new notification issued by Thailand’s Ministry of Interior, Indian passport holders travelling for tourism will be able to enter the country without securing a visa in advance and stay for up to 30 days.

The visa exemption, however, does not mean travellers can arrive without supporting documents. Immigration authorities may ask visitors to establish their travel purpose, accommodation and return plans. Indian tourists should therefore keep the following documents ready before departure.

Passport Validity

Make sure your passport has at least six months of validity remaining from the date you enter Thailand. Checking this well before your trip can help avoid problems at the airport or immigration counter.

Keep Return Tickets And Hotel Details

Travellers should carry confirmed return or onward flight tickets along with hotel bookings covering their stay. A basic travel itinerary can also be useful if immigration officials ask about your plans.

It is advisable to keep both digital copies on your phone and printed copies of important travel documents.

Submit The TDAC

Indian travellers must complete the Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) before entering the country. The online form can be submitted up to 72 hours before arrival.

Travellers should use Thailand’s official immigration portal to complete the TDAC and retain the confirmation after submission.

Carry Sufficient Funds

Tourists using the visa exemption should be prepared to show proof of adequate financial means. Travellers may be asked to demonstrate access to at least THB 20,000 per person.

Those travelling with family members or in groups should ensure that each traveller has the required documents and funds readily available.

Who Is Not Eligible?

The visa-free facility is intended for tourism purposes. Indian nationals travelling to Thailand for employment cannot use this exemption and must obtain the appropriate work visa.

Travellers using Thailand as a transit point should also check the visa requirements for their final destination and carry the necessary supporting documents.

While the visa exemption simplifies travel, admission is ultimately decided by Thai immigration authorities at the point of entry. Travellers should therefore check the latest requirements through official Thai government or embassy channels before leaving India, as entry rules and documentation requirements can change.
