Trivikram Casts Jr NTR as Lord Kumara Swamy in Upcoming Mythology-Based Film

Jr NTR to Play Lord Kumara Swamy in Trivikram Srinivas’s Upcoming Mythological Spectacle.

Jr NTR is all set to take on a divine role in his next big project, reuniting with acclaimed director Trivikram Srinivas for a mythological fantasy drama. The film, produced by Harika Hassine Creations, will feature the superstar as Lord Kumara Swamy—also known as Skanda or Murugan—a deity revered in Hindu mythology for his valor and wisdom.

Interestingly, the project was initially pitched to Allu Arjun. However, with the actor currently tied up with director Atlee’s ambitious pan-India venture, the makers circled back to Jr NTR, who was reportedly their first choice for the role.

This marks the second major collaboration between Trivikram and Jr NTR after their successful outing Aravinda Sametha. The upcoming film will diverge from their previous work by venturing into a socio-mythological genre, blending traditional storytelling with grand visuals and emotional depth.

The buzz around the film gained momentum when producer Naga Vamsi posted a cryptic Sanskrit verse on X (formerly Twitter), referencing Lord Skanda, with the caption: “My most favourite Anna as one of the most powerful gods.” Industry insiders soon confirmed that Jr NTR would be donning the role of Lord Kumara Swamy.

Backing the film are producers S. Radha Krishna (Chinna Babu) and Suryadevara Naga Vamsi, both known for delivering consistent hits in the Telugu film industry.

Meanwhile, Jr NTR continues to have a packed schedule. He is currently dubbing for War 2, his highly anticipated Bollywood debut where he stars opposite Hrithik Roshan. He’s also filming Devara: Part 2, and is set to begin work on a film with KGF director Prashanth Neel. Additionally, a collaboration with Jailer director Nelson Dilipkumar is in the pipeline.

Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao Jr., popularly known as Jr NTR, is among the top stars in Indian cinema today. With over 30 films under his belt, he’s earned critical acclaim and box-office success alike. His accolades include three Filmfare Awards South, two Nandi Awards, and multiple other honours.
