Trump Shares ‘Restraining Order Needed’ Post Targeting Italy’s Giorgia Meloni Ahead of NATO Summit

US President Donald Trump has renewed his public criticism of Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, sharing an image on his Truth Social platform captioned “Restraining Order Needed” just days before NATO leaders are set to meet.

The post featured a photograph of Trump standing in front of Meloni, who appeared to be smiling while looking in his direction. The accompanying caption suggested the Italian leader was overly interested in the US President, marking the latest chapter in an increasingly public exchange between the two leaders.

Row Began After G7 Summit

The dispute dates back to last month’s G7 Summit, when Trump claimed Meloni had repeatedly sought a photograph with him and suggested she was eager to be seen alongside him.

He further alleged that the Italian prime minister had “begged” for a picture, remarks that quickly sparked political controversy in Italy and drew criticism from members of Meloni’s government.

Meloni Denied Trump’s Claims

Meloni strongly rejected Trump’s version of events, calling the allegations “completely fabricated.”

“Neither I nor Italy ever beg,” she said, adding that her government bases its foreign policy on Italy’s national interests rather than personal relationships or political optics.

While dismissing Trump’s comments, Meloni also stressed that she did not want the episode to overshadow broader cooperation among Western allies.

Fresh Social Media Post Before NATO Summit

Trump’s latest Truth Social post comes ahead of this week’s NATO Summit, where both leaders are expected to attend.

Neither the White House nor Meloni’s office has publicly commented on the new post. However, the social media jab is likely to keep attention focused on the strained personal dynamic between the two leaders as they prepare to meet alongside other alliance members.
