Vikrant Massey is riding high on acclaim after winning the prestigious Best Actor award at the 71st National Film Awards for his powerful performance in 12th Fail. Celebrating his milestone moment, fellow actor Sidharth Malhotra was among the many celebrities who congratulated Massey on social media.

The 71st National Film Awards, announced on August 1, celebrated the finest achievements in Indian filmmaking for the year 2023. One of the biggest highlights was the joint Best Actor honour shared by Shah Rukh Khan (Jawan) and Vikrant Massey (12th Fail). In the Best Actress category, Rani Mukerji earned recognition for her poignant role in Mrs. Chatterjee vs Norway.

The winners were revealed at a press conference held at the National Media Centre in New Delhi, after weeks of jury deliberation. The final recommendations were submitted to Information & Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and Minister of State L. Murugan earlier in the day.

12th Fail, a biographical drama directed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra, is based on the real-life journey of Manoj Kumar Sharma, who overcame poverty and social challenges to become an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer. The film struck a chord with audiences and critics alike for its honest portrayal of struggle and perseverance.

Vikrant Massey leads the cast as Sharma, with Medha Shankr playing his wife, Shraddha Joshi Sharma. The film also features compelling performances by Anant Joshi, Anshumaan Pushkar, and Priyanshu Chatterjee.
