The Congress wants to implement Sharia law across the country, Uttar Pradesh chief minister and BJP leader Yogi Adityanath said on Tuesday, days after Prime Minister Narendra Modi claimed the party had promised to redistribute people’s property to the Muslim community.
The UP CM and BJP’s star campaigner said the Congress had made the promise in its Lok Sabha elections manifesto.
“The Congress and its allies have betrayed the country and have once again come to you with their false manifesto. If you look at the Congress’ manifesto, they say that if they form a government, we will implement Sharia law,” said UP CM Yogi Adityanath at a rally in Amroha.
“You tell me, will this country be run by the Constitution made by Baba Saheb Bhimrao Ambedkar or by Shariat?” he added. Elaborating on his remark, Yogi Adityanath said that the Congress promised in its election manifesto they would implement personal laws, which means Sharia law.
He said the Muslim law will be implemented because Prime Minister Narendra Modi stopped the practice of triple talaq. “They say that we will again restore personal law. These people will implement Sharia law…,” he added.
He also repeated PM Modi’s remark that the party has promised to snatch away people’s property and distribute it. “Do you want to allow the Congress and Samajwadi Party to loot your property?” he added.

“Look at the condition of these shameless people. On one hand, they are eying on your property and on the other hand they are making the mafia and criminals their necklace and reciting Fatiha in their name,” Yogi Adityanath said.
Referring to former PM Manmohan Singh’s remark in 2006 that Muslims have the first right on the country’s resources, Yogi Adityanath said where will the marginalised communities like Dalits, backward classes, Kharagvanshis, Pals, poor and farmers go.
Yogi Adityanath on terrorism
Yogi Adityanath also claimed that terrorism has been destroyed in India by PM Modi.
He said even if a firecracker bursts somewhere, Pakistan clarifies that it is not involved. He said Pakistan is afraid that they will have to face consequences if a terrorist incident takes place in India.
Sharia is a set of religious laws based on Islamic scripters, mainly Quran and hadith.
PM Modi today said that his remarks sent the Congress and the INDIA bloc into a state of panic.
