Nvidia Becomes World’s Most Valuable Company, Surpassing Microsoft After Stock Surge.

Nvidia has claimed the title of the world’s most valuable company following a sharp rise in its share price on Wednesday. The chipmaker’s stock jumped 4.33% to a record high of $154.10, boosting its market capitalization to approximately $3.763 trillion — overtaking Microsoft, now second at $3.658 trillion.

The surge came after Loop Capital raised Nvidia’s price target from $175 to $250 while maintaining a “buy” rating. Analyst Ananda Baruah described Nvidia as being at the forefront of a “Golden Wave” driven by accelerating adoption of generative AI technologies.

Despite the stock’s rally, Nvidia is trading at about 30 times its projected earnings over the next year — lower than its five-year average of 40 — signaling that its soaring profits are keeping pace with its rising valuation, according to LSEG data.

The top spot has seen rapid shifts in recent weeks between Nvidia, Microsoft, and Apple. Microsoft briefly reclaimed the lead earlier in June, but Nvidia has now pulled ahead again. Apple holds the third spot with a market cap of $3.010 trillion, following a 0.63% increase in its stock.
