The announcement followed a key Cabinet meeting, where the proposal received unanimous approval. The quota applies to all direct recruitment across government services in Bihar and is exclusively for women who are permanent residents of the state.

Sharing the development on social media, Nitish Kumar stated:
“To empower the youth of Bihar, the government has decided to form the Bihar Youth Commission. It will monitor employment policies, give recommendations, and ensure locals are prioritized in private sector jobs.”
The commission will include:
1 Chairperson
2 Vice-Chairpersons
7 Members
Members must be below 45 years of age.
It will also work to safeguard the interests of Bihari youth working or studying outside the state.
Pension Hike for Elderly Citizens
Separately, Nitish Kumar highlighted that the state has increased the monthly pension under the Social Security Pension Scheme from ₹400 to ₹1,100. The hike, effective from July, will be credited on the 10th of every month going forward.
“The elderly are a precious part of society. Ensuring their dignity and financial security remains our priority,” the CM said.
