FBI Raids Ex-NSA John Bolton’s Home Amid Classified Documents Probe
The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) raided the Maryland residence of former US National Security Adviser (NSA) John Bolton on Friday, in connection with a high-profile national security investigation.
The probe, reportedly ordered by FBI Director Kash Patel, is linked to classified documents dating back to Donald Trump’s first presidential term. The case, initially shelved during Joe Biden’s presidency, has now been revived.
Patel confirmed the operation with a cryptic post on X, writing: “NO ONE is above the law… @FBI agents on mission.”
Bolton, who served as Trump’s NSA between 2018 and 2019, has previously faced allegations of mishandling sensitive information in his 2020 memoir The Room Where It Happened. The Trump administration had attempted to block the book’s publication, citing breaches of a non-disclosure agreement.
The raid comes shortly after Bolton’s sharp criticism of Trump’s trade and foreign policy, particularly his tariff strategy on India. In an earlier this month, Bolton called Trump’s decision to impose steep tariffs on New Delhi “a mistake in the bilateral relationship,” warning it risked pushing India closer to Beijing and Moscow.
In a recent post on X, Bolton wrote: “When Trump slapped tariffs on India for buying Russian oil, but not China which also purchases Russian oil, it may have pushed India further into the Beijing-Moscow axis. This lack of focus by the Trump Admin is an unforced error.”
Bolton, whose security clearance had already been revoked alongside other Trump aides, remains a vocal critic of the former president’s foreign policy.
