Security Forces Eliminate Bagu Khan, ‘Human GPS’ Behind Over 100 Infiltration Attempts in J&K
In a major operation in the Gurez sector of Jammu and Kashmir’s Bandipora district, security forces neutralized Bagu Khan, also known as ‘Human GPS’, a key facilitator responsible for at least 100 terrorist infiltration attempts, many of which had been successful.
Also known as Samandar Chacha, Bagu Khan had been active in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) since 1995 and was considered the primary link for terrorist infiltration into the Kashmir Valley. His detailed knowledge of secret routes and the region’s challenging terrain made him one of the oldest and most effective facilitators of infiltration over the past three decades.
Bagu Khan was killed along with another terrorist during an attempted infiltration from the Nowshera Naar area on Saturday. Security agencies described his elimination as a significant blow to the logistical network of terrorist organisations operating in the region.
Despite being a Hizbul commander, Bagu Khan assisted multiple terrorist groups in infiltrating the Gurez sector and surrounding areas, making him highly valued among militant networks.
This encounter followed a separate operation on Thursday, in which security forces foiled an infiltration attempt along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Gurez sector, killing two terrorists.
“Based on intelligence provided by Jammu and Kashmir Police regarding a likely infiltration attempt, a joint operation was launched by the Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police in the Gurez Sector,” said the Indian Army’s Srinagar-based Chinar Corps. Troops spotted suspicious activity and challenged the intruders, prompting the terrorists to open fire.
Meanwhile, a high-security alert was issued across Bihar on Thursday following intelligence inputs that three terrorists from Pakistan had entered the state via Nepal.
The Bihar Police headquarters issued an alert to all district police units and released the names and photographs of terrorists affiliated with the Jaish-e-Mohammed. It is suspected that they entered Bihar through Araria after crossing over from Nepal.
