Putin Warns US Over Tomahawk Missiles, Threatens ‘Devastating’ Response If Used on Russian Territory.

Russian President Vladimir Putin issued a stern warning to the United States, cautioning against supplying Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine, which could escalate the ongoing conflict. Putin stated that if such missiles were used to strike Russian territory, the response would be “serious, if not devastating.”

“This is an attempt at escalation,” Putin remarked, adding, “But if strikes with such weapons are carried out on Russian territory, the response will be very serious, if not downright devastating. Let them think about that.”

Putin reiterated his preference for dialogue over confrontation, emphasizing, “Dialogue is always better than confrontation or any disputes, and especially war. We have always supported the continuation of dialogue.”

Meanwhile, in Washington, President Donald Trump appeared to dismiss the likelihood of Ukraine receiving the long-range, precision-guided Tomahawk missiles, which have a range of over 1,500 km. Trump explained, “It’ll take a minimum of 6 months or usually a year to learn how to use them. They’re highly complex. So the only way a Tomahawk is going to be shot is if we shot it, and we’re not going to do that.”

Regarding the new US sanctions imposed on Russia, Trump noted that they were serious but would not have a significant impact on Russia’s economy. The sanctions target Russia’s two largest oil companies, Rosneft and Lukoil.

Putin responded to the sanctions by saying, “They are serious for us, of course, that is clear. And they will have certain consequences, but they will not significantly impact our economic well-being.” He also added that the sanctions were an “unfriendly act” and did not help in improving US-Russia relations, which he said had only just begun to recover.
