Six Blasts Rock Delhi-NCR on December 6: ‘Doctor Module’ Linked to Babri Revenge Plot

Investigators probing the recent Red Fort blast in Delhi have uncovered a major terror plot allegedly hatched by a Jaish-e-Mohammed-linked module of doctors.

Which had planned six coordinated explosions across the Delhi-NCR region on December 6 — the anniversary of the Babri Masjid demolition. According to intelligence officials, the date was chosen deliberately as part of what the suspects described as a “revenge operation” for the Babri incident. Interrogation of those arrested has revealed that the group, composed of highly educated professionals, had designed a detailed, five-phase plan to execute multiple bombings in the capital.

The Five-Phase Plan

Phase 1: Formation of the terror cell, reportedly linked to Jaish-e-Mohammed and Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind.

Phase 2: Procurement of explosive materials and ammunition from Nuh and Gurugram in Haryana.

Phase 3: Assembly of chemical-based improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and reconnaissance of potential targets.

Phase 4: Distribution of explosives among operatives for simultaneous execution.

Phase 5 (Final): Coordinated blasts at six to seven locations across Delhi and adjoining cities.

Officials said the initial plan was to execute the attack in August 2025, but logistical setbacks pushed the group to reschedule it for December 6, coinciding with the Babri anniversary.

The Red Fort blast, which killed nine people and injured over 20, is now believed to have been carried out prematurely after key members of the group were arrested. The explosion occurred near the Red Fort Metro station, in a car driven by Dr Umar Mohammed alias Umar un-Nabi, a Kashmiri doctor employed at Al Falah University, Faridabad.

Subsequent raids in Faridabad led to the seizure of 2,900 kg of ammonium nitrate and the arrest of two other doctors, Muzammil Sheikh and Shaheen Saeed, who investigators believe were central to the bomb-making process.

Sources said the so-called “Doctor Module” was a new, educated faction within Jaish-e-Mohammed that used its professional background to acquire and assemble explosives with precision. The module’s aim, according to officials, was to orchestrate a “spectacular multi-target strike” in Delhi to mark the Babri demolition anniversary.

Investigators suspect Umar carried out the Red Fort explosion impulsively after his associates’ arrest disrupted the larger plan. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) and Delhi Police’s Special Cell are jointly probing the case to trace financial links, digital communications, and possible international handlers connected to the module.

Officials said that Masood Azhar, Jaish’s chief, has repeatedly invoked the Babri Masjid issue in his writings and propaganda, calling for “retribution” — a sentiment that appears to have inspired this latest module’s mission.

Authorities have since tightened surveillance in Delhi and adjoining regions, warning that other sleeper cells could still be active and might attempt similar attacks in the future.
