Goa Government Cracks Down on Romeo Lane After Deadly Club Fire, Fifth Accused Arrested.

A day after a tragic fire at Goa’s Romeo Lane club killed 25 people, authorities have intensified their crackdown on the nightclub chain, tightening scrutiny on its founders. The Goa police have issued a look-out notice for the absconding owners amid allegations that the club’s licence was granted without proper documentation.

Four people were arrested on Sunday in connection with the fire, while the fifth accused, a manager responsible for daily operations, was apprehended in Delhi on Monday.

The blaze at the popular North Goa beach club, which killed staff and tourists alike, exposed serious illegalities and lapses in safety compliance. Preliminary reports suggest the fire was triggered by sparks from a dancer’s performance. The club reportedly lacked fire department approval to operate. Chief Minister Pramod Sawant confirmed that initial findings indicate fire safety norms were not followed.

The arrested include chief general manager Rajiv Modak, general manager Vivek Singh, bar manager Rajiv Singhania, gate manager Riyanshu Thakur, and operations manager Bharat Singh. Authorities have also sealed another beach shack and club owned by the Romeo Lane chain.

A Goa police team has traveled to Delhi to track down promoters Saurabh Luthra and Gaurav Luthra, against whom an FIR has been registered.
