CJP’s Saurav Das hits back at Kangana Ranaut, jokes: ‘Maybe she’s after me because I look like young Hrithik Roshan’

The public spat between BJP MP and actor Kangana Ranaut and Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) leader Saurav Das has escalated, with Das responding to Kangana’s recent personal remarks in an interview with journalist Barkha Dutt on Mojo Story.

Days after Kangana described him as “useless” and “unemployed” in an Instagram post, Das dismissed the attack with humour before urging the actor-politician to engage in dialogue instead of personal insults.

‘Maybe I look like young Hrithik Roshan’

Reacting to Kangana’s criticism, Das said some of his friends were surprised by the intensity of her remarks and even joked about the reason behind them.

“One of my friends said maybe she is after my life because I look a little like young Hrithik Roshan,” Das said with a laugh.

He clarified that he had no personal animosity towards Kangana and called for more respectful public discourse.

“The problem in this country is that people don’t talk anymore. There is less discussion, less debate. We should speak to each other with maryada,” he said.

Reference to Kangana-Hrithik controversy

Das’s remark appeared to allude to Kangana Ranaut’s widely publicised dispute with actor Hrithik Roshan.

The controversy dates back to 2016, when Kangana referred to Hrithik as her “silly ex” during an interview. Hrithik denied they had ever been in a relationship, leading to a prolonged legal and public battle involving notices, statements and leaked emails. The episode remains one of Bollywood’s most talked-about controversies.

‘Be careful with your words’

Das also criticised Kangana’s recent comments about Gen Z, saying public figures should exercise restraint while speaking about young people.

“I would just say, be careful of your words. Don’t sound frustrated. It doesn’t sound like the words of a person who is mentally stable. Think before speaking about the future generation of this country. Ultimately, people cannot be disrespected in this manner,” he said.

‘We believe in dialogue’

Asked whether he would accept an invitation for coffee from Kangana, Das said he held no ill will towards her or leaders of the BJP.

“We harbour no ill will against anybody, including BJP MPs and people in the government. We have always believed in dialogue,” he said.

What sparked the exchange?

The latest remarks come after Kangana Ranaut launched a sharp attack on Das in an Instagram post earlier this week. She mocked him for calling himself a student at the age of 28, labelled him “useless” and “unemployed,” and contrasted his life with her own, saying she had already won two National Awards by that age.

Kangana also took aim at Gen Z protesters, calling them the “Generation Gutter” and describing their videos as “puke-inducing,” remarks that triggered criticism from several quarters, including Das.
